Nightfall Survivors
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
Nightfall Survivors is a survivors-like: you never attack, you only move.
Your weapons fire themselves, the horde thickens every minute, and the whole
game is deciding where to stand and what to pick up.
Bring someone
Co-op is peer to peer. One player hosts a lobby and reads out a five-letter
code, the other types it in, and you both drop onto the same battlefield
against the same horde — sharing the clock, the contracts, the depth, and every
upgrade you draft. Twice the guns, twice the things that want you dead.
Running out of health does not end a shared run. You drop where you stand,
greyed out and out of the fight, and your partner can pull you back up by
holding the ground beside you for a couple of seconds while the horde closes
in. The night only wins when nobody is left standing.
Multiplayer needs a signalling server. It only introduces the two players —
once you are connected the traffic goes directly between your machines — so it
is a tiny process on any Linux box. One is included in the download, along with
setup notes. Read `README.txt` before trying co-op.
What a run looks like
- Three hunters. The Hunter's every fifth volley is a guaranteed critical,
the Warden builds wards that eat hits, the Arcanist charges a devastating
nova. Two are unlocked with souls.
- Nineteen upgrades and seven evolutions. Orbiting blades, chaining
lightning, returning scythes, proximity mines, autonomous familiars,
offensive dash trails — and the evolutions that turn them into something
else.
- A world that streams. Moonlit Ruins, Crimson Fen and Ashen Graveyard,
each with its own ground, its own hazards and its own furniture. Gravefire
and miasma punish careless routes; soul wells heal if you can hold them.
- Contracts and the Nightfall Depth. Runs give souls, souls buy permanent
Soul Forge ranks, and clearing four contracts at a depth opens the next one —
ten tiers of it.
- Bosses, bounties, shrines and blood moons, plus a twelve-card achievement
codex that shows exactly how far off each milestone you are.
Playing
WASD to move, Space to dash through danger, E for your charged ability. Nothing
else — the shooting takes care of itself.
Full controller support. Settings for volume, reduced flashes, high contrast,
screen shake and damage numbers are on the title screen and in the pause menu.
This is a beta
It is complete and playable end to end, but it has not been through many hands
yet. The build number is on the title screen — please include it if you report
something. Co-op in particular has been tested far more on one machine than
across the internet, so that is where the sharp edges are most likely to be.
